INVISIBLE ORANGES reviews and photographs Chelsea Wolfe’s show at Echoplex, 1/26/12; “She appropriates not only the imagery, but also an understanding of the mechanics of heavy songwriting, flirting with black metal chords and the occasional blast-beat. Her band treats the material like inverted post-metal: the songs worship the voice more than the riff, but there’s a persistent weight underlining the gothic melodies. Live, you feel the songs churn while the vocal trails off into harmony and dissonance in equal measure. Wolfe pulled the crowd wholly into her world with effortless confidence, and never let go.”

I listen, So You Don’t Have To reviews Chelsea’s Performance at Echoplex with Wolves in the Throne Room 1/26/12; “What I didn’t expect was just how fired up the people were to see Chelsea Wolfe… What I heard was the rawness of a young PJ Harvey with more of a goth background, the emotional delivery of a Dax Riggs mixed with the sensual voice of the beautiful Mazzy Star… You could tell just by watching her that she puts every ounce of energy and passion into the delivery of each and every song and she did a fantastic job mixing up the setlist too…Her performance was top notch and I really enjoyed watching her. I would say my first experience with Chelsea was a great introduction and I really look forward to hearing some more brilliant stuff from this rising star in the future.”
