BEDFORD + BOWERY give an inside look on STARRED + feature their upcoming tour w/ COURTNEY LOVE

ScreenShot229

ScreenShot230

“The slow, repetitive songs off their “Prison to Prison” EP are both pretty and angry (Thorn’s sweet voice can also snarl) — a mix of 4AD shoe-gaze and 70s Americana with a New York attitude.”

VILLAGE VOICE wrote a fantastic feature on STARRED + their Upcoming tour w/ COURTNEY LOVE

ScreenShot228

ScreenShot227

“If Thorn and Koshak seem a bit tired, it’s probably because they’ve been busy getting their hustle on. Since moving to New York from L.A. a year ago, the band has released a well-received EP with Pendu Sound, picked up some lucrative modeling gigs, DJed all over town, played some buzzed-about gigs (including one opening for Courtney Love at her secret show at the Dream Hotel)…”

FILTER (MEXICO) shows love for TEMPERS!!!

Tempers_bio-650px-450x252

“At first glance, it may not happen much around Tempers, but the elements that have been recruited to spice up their synths based compositions, and elements that seem to be taken from the new wave classic, have been doing their first two singles something extremely attractive. This duo could be the most accessible project Pendu Sound catalog so far, and not something Damian Taylor-mind that in the past has worked with Björk, Arcade Fire and The Killers, was the person who decided to be involved in the production of their first single named “Eyes Wide Wider”, which was released on February 14 of this year.”

STARRED featured in INTERVIEW MAGAZINE’s “Soundclouds of the Underground”

ScreenShot199

“‘Maybe I’ll do it on my own,’ Thorn sings on ‘Committee,’ a soft and sweet song exuding a tint of hazed melancholy. An organ drives the melody, but it is Thorn who tends to catch the ear—although she may not be the loudest thing on the track, the singer stuns with her straightforward vocal, which helps the track float along nicely.”

DAZED names STARRED “Muse of the Week” while featuring “Mayday”

ScreenShot161

“The Unforgettable Face Of A Muse”, proclaimed The New York Times this week of Liza Thorn, the singer of fuzzed-out rock band Starred (with Matthew Koshak) and frequent photographic subject of Hedi Slimane. This week, Starred premiered ‘Mayday’, a song about Damien Echols of the West Memphis Three with a video intercutting footage of Echols with Thorn sleeping on leopard-print sheets. Unsettlingly gorgeous.”

JASMINE GOLESTANEH from TEMPERS is featured on BEAUTIFUL SAVAGE

ScreenShot159
ScreenShot158

“I met with Jasmine Golestaneh, lead singer of Tempers, visual artist, and Oxford alum, to chat about her recent collaboration with James Valeri—fashion photographer and editor of Document Magazine. Valeri has commissioned her to chop up his images of idyllic, stunning fashion muses, and insert them into worlds of her own making—beautifully pagan, if not slightly dangerous backdrops that flirt with the divide between fine art and black metal.”

THE NEW YORK TIMES sits down with LIZA THORN from STARRED

ScreenShot153
ScreenShot152

“Ms. Thorn is well on her way to being a rock star and is already, albeit grudgingly, a fashion plate.”

“The band specializes in dreamy psychedelic rock with guitar pitted against feedback and drone effects, the vocals often buried underneath dissonance.”

STARRED’s Liza Thorn makes it on NOISEY’s “Women to Watch Out For in 2013”

ScreenShot048

“Besides already being hunted down by high-fashion hotheads for her I-don’t-give-a-fuck sense of style, Liza Thorn and her boyfriend Matt Koshak make doped-up music in their band Starred. Imagine Mazzy Starr playing acoustic guitar in a hollow tin cell filled with smoke. The music is there, but it’s Thorn who has the muse power (she even compares herself to Jesus sometimes). Thorn is already on the map, now we just wait and watch her melt all over it.”
