PSR-DSS003 – AZAR SWAN – “In My Mouth” Digital 7″ Single
THE DELI MAG – “Elements of Kate Bush at her most adventurous emerge in the vocal stylings of Zorah Atash as she sings with her band Azar Swan on the hypnotic new single ‘In My Mouth.’ Its rhythmic pulse pushes forward with a teutonic minimalism that somehow manages to also swing in the process, positioning this track next to the output of Swedish electronic duo The Knife.” –Read it here – 06/07/13
BLACKBOOK MAG – “With a spring-coiled beat, cold synth stabs, and bells that could ring in doomsday, you’re definitely poised above an abyss, sexual or otherwise. Either way, it’s a track with extreme gravity that’ll still let you move (suggestively) on the dance floor.” – Read it here – 06/05/13
THE DELI MAG – “A toxic blend of jungle rhythm and technopunk aggression provide the sweltering backdrop for singer Zohra Atash’s ominous gothic vocal style. What makes “Lusty” so visceral, however, is the way its beastial lyrics burn with a kind of sexual frustration that feels both dangerous and pornographic. Beware Azar Swan, and look out for a new single coming soon on Pendu Sound.” – Read it here – 03/29/13
AZAR SWAN is: Zohra Atash, Josh Strawn
Formerly the core members of sprawling, orchestral project Religious To Damn, Zohra Atash and Joshua Strawn changed gears early this year, turning their once instrumental ensemble into a drum machine minded, electro-centric duo. The shift was sparked by a two-fold realization from Atash and Strawn who were looking to consolidate the project, with coordinating multiple musicians often slowing the writing and performing process, combined with a mutual revived interest in electronic music and hip-hop beats pulling influences from acts like These New Puritans and The-Dream.
